The Practice Manager and her supporting team are involved in overseeing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The PM supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

The APM assists the Practice Manager in the smooth running of the practice, deputising where required.

Care Navigators

Our Care Navigating team provide an important link for patients and are the initial contact point for general enquiries. They are trained to utilise the patient appointments effectively.

Seeing a GP is not always necessary. We are lucky to have a large, well-qualified team, including, Pharmacists, a Mental Health Nurse and an Urgent care team.

Care Navigators

We also have access to the local Pharm-refer service that enables us to organise a consultation with local Pharmacist for minor ailments. When you telephone, our team will need to ask a series of questions in order to ensure you are seen by the most appropriate person to suit your needs. Please be assured that any information you give them will always be treated in confidence as all practice staff are bound by the same rules of confidentiality.

Our team also perform other important tasks such as registering new patients, issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, looking after patient records and supporting the partners in the smooth running of the practice.

 

Practice Secretaries

Our versatile Secretaries manage our outgoing letters and referrals. They are incredibly flexible and always open to trying new systems or different ways of working. Their daily tasks include typing up dictations, sending referrals to hospital and community clinics via the electronic referral system, processing summary care record requests from police and other agencies, alongside responding to various queries from both internal and external health professionals.

Patients will rarely see or speak to our admin team as most of their work is done behind the scenes, but is essential to running our practice. Julie oversees which clinical staff is working each day and puts all the appointments onto our system. Our Administrators make sure all incoming information, from hospital clinic letters to blood pressure readings, is coded on our patients notes and sent to the relevant clinicians. They also contact patients when they’re due to book appointments for vaccinations or annual reviews.

 

Prescription Clerks

Our Prescription Clerks action incoming prescription requests and send them through to the relevant clinician, or responds to patients as appropriate. They are the bridge between our patients and the local Pharmacies and are often found making phone calls to one or the other. Our Prescription Clerks also contact patients to invite them for their annual medication reviews.
